This is an exciting time to join the team in Cardiac Investigations at Southmead Hospital Operating Unit. Our consultant workforce is expanding to enhance the cardiac services we provide. We offer complex device implantation and follow-up, including CRT-P, CRT-D and conduction system pacing (CSP), supported by a multidisciplinary team.

The department holds British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) Departmental Accreditation for Adult Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE) and Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TOE), and is a designated training centre. Significant investment has been made in the cardiac physiology workforce, creating opportunities for career progression.

We have invested in our infrastructure with our echocardiography service benefiting from new GE ultrasound systems and a modern reporting platform.

We are seeking a Cardiac Physiologist with experience in echocardiography. A BSc in Cardiac Physiology (or equivalent) and an accredited echocardiography qualification (BSE or equivalent) are essential. Team members may rotate through catheter laboratories and non-invasive testing. RCCP or AHCS registration is essential and HCPC registration is desirable.

We have one fixed-term position for 13 months commencing January 2027. The role is 37.5 hours per week, worked across six days on an 8:00am to 6:00pm working pattern.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for cardiac physiologists with experience and knowledge within echocardiography.

A BSc Cardiac Physiology qualification or equivalent is essential. A suitable qualification in echocardiography (BSE or equivalent) is essential.

Members of the cardiac physiology team will be expected to rotate around areas of cardiology, if they hold relevant experience, such as the catheter labs, exercise tolerance testing, tilt tests, tape analysis, device follow up, remote monitoring follow up and device implant to keep up existing skills so experience in those areas would be an advantage.

We would consider those trainees completing the ETP program, only those who have already passed the written exam and are working towards their log book and video cases would be considered for this role.
