Job summary

Hardy Mill Primary in Bolton is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (TA4) to join our Key Stage 1 team. This permanent post is designed to support learning continuity and create a stimulating classroom environment.

You will take whole class cover, provide emergency support at short notice, and lead daily phonics, English and maths groups to help every pupil build strong foundations.

Qualifications

• Passion for primary education.
• Experience leading whole class activities, ideally KS1.
• Proven ability to work as part of a team.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs (SEND).
• Excellent organisational skills and adaptability.
• Sound knowledge of early reading, phonics and maths.
• Confidence in following teachers’ planning and providing emergency cover.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills with children and adults.

Responsibilities

REQUIRED: September 2026 or as soon after

HOURS: 32.5 hours per week term time plus 2 days

GRADE: Grade F Scp 17 £31,022 to Scp 23 £34,434 pro rata

ACTUAL SALARY: £22,993 to £25,522 per annum

CONTRACT: Permanent post

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting the development and progress of children in our Key Stage 1 department. Your role is vital in ensuring continuity of learning and maintaining a stimulating environment for all pupils.
