Job Vacancy: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Prospero Teaching are seeking a friendly and confident HLTA to join our client Primary School based in Portsmouth (PO2). Within this role you will be working across all year groups from Pre-School to Year 6. Applicants should be an experienced HLTA or LSA/TA willing to undertake HLTA qualification.

Contract Details:

1. Location - Portsmouth (PO2)
2. Position - Higher Level Teaching Assistant
3. Start date - ASAP
4. Contract type - Long Term / Permanent
5. Duration / Likely Duration - Ongoing
6. Full time/part time - Full Time
7. Minimum rate of pay - £15 per hour

Requirements:

1. Experience supporting children's learning and development
2. Experience with interaction and communication needs
3. Excellent communication skills with children, colleagues, and parents
4. Confident in covering PPA across the school, including Pre-School
5. Flexible in covering classes last minute due to staff absence
6. Ability to plan support for individual children's needs
7. Independent, proactive, and initiative-driven
8. Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures

Responsibilities:

1. Supervise whole classes in the teacher's absence
2. Use specialist skills to support pupils
3. Work unsupervised during PPA cover and fulfil reasonable requests from teaching staff/SLT
4. Assist in creating a suitable learning environment
5. Evaluate and record pupils' responses through observations
6. Implement curriculum programmes at the whole class level
7. Manage pupil behaviour and assess progress independently
8. Apply school, national, and statutory policies in the workplace

To be eligible for this role through Prospero teaching, you must:

1. Hold right to work in the UK
2. Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
3. Provide two professional child related references
