About the Role

Masterclass Education is working on behalf of a specialist provider to recruit a Higher Level Teaching Assistant - SEND. Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA or SEND professional to join a dedicated and supportive team, making a meaningful impact on the education and wellbeing of pupils with complex learning needs including those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. You will work closely with the SENDCO and teaching staff to support individuals and small groups of pupils, delivering targeted interventions and adapting learning to meet their needs. This role involves working both inside and outside the classroom and requires a flexible, proactive, and empathetic approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and adapt specified learning activities to individuals and small groups
  • Support pupils with a wide range of SEND needs, including SEMH
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to staff to support inclusive teaching
  • Monitor and respond to behaviour, escalating complex issues appropriately
  • Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external professionals
  • Supervise and support other classroom support staff
  • Contribute to whole-school SEND strategy and development
  • Take a key role in coordinating JCQ Access Arrangements
  • Deputise for the SENDCO when required
