SEN HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) – Primary PRU

Location: South Manchester

Salary: Competitive daily rate (dependent on experience)

Contract: Full-time, Temporary (with potential to be permanent)

Start Date: September 2025

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant or HLTA looking for a rewarding new challenge? Do you have a passion for supporting children with complex needs in a nurturing and structured environment? Hays Education is working in partnership with a well-regarded Primary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in South Manchester to recruit a dedicated SEN HLTA to start in September 2025. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team committed to transforming the lives of children who require additional behavioural and emotional support.

Your New Role
  • Support pupils aged 5–11 with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs and additional learning difficulties.
  • Deliver tailored interventions and small group sessions under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Assist with planning and delivering engaging, differentiated learning activities.
  • Help manage behaviour positively and consistently, using de-escalation strategies.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
What You'll Need to Succeed
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a similar SEN support role.
  • Proven experience working with children with challenging behaviour or in a PRU/alternative provision setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a calm, resilient approach.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and helping them thrive.
