ROOSE (Ryedale Out of School Education) is a specialised Alternative Provision commissioned by North Yorkshire Council. It is structured as a shared collaborative provision between the four secondary schools serving the Ryedale region:
ROOSE exists to provide a tailored, off-site educational pathway for students across Ryedale who face significant barriers to learning in a standard mainstream setting. Rather than acting as a separate, detached institution, ROOSE works as an extension of these partner schools to offer targeted academic, emotional, and social intervention
At ROOSE we pride ourselves on providing a calm, highly structured setting with significantly reduced numbers compared to a typical secondary school classroom.
Focusing heavily on rebuilding self-esteem, restoring confidence in learning, and either supporting a gradual reintegration back into mainstream lessons or guiding students toward post-16 vocational and educational pathways.
Working closely with North Yorkshire Council’s Inclusion and SEND Hubs, social care teams, and pastoral leaders from all four partnership schools to maintain a joined-up approach for every pupil.
