Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Permanent

Grade 6, SCP 23-27, £33,366 to £37,035 (Full time, full year equivalent)

Actual Salary £26,110 to £29,900 (Pay award pending)

Mayfield Primary School are looking to appoint an inspirational and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to be part of our support staff team and wider Mayfield and Cranmer family.

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a talented and committed staff in a growing school.

As a HLTA you will be working with the class teachers, SENDCO and other members of staff to provide curriculum support and interventions for our children.

The role includes:

  • Delivering high-quality lessons across the school during teacher PPA time (planning provided).
  • Building strong, positive relationships with children in all year groups.
  • Using effective, trauma-informed behaviour strategies to support individuals and classes.
  • Working as part of our developing approach to nurture, inclusion and emotional regulation.
  • Being a calm, consistent presence across the school especially for children who need it most.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with experience leading learning across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
  • Has a strength in behaviour support and a calm, consistent approach.
  • Understands how to support children with SEMH and additional needs in a respectful, inclusive way.
  • Is flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to the needs of different classes and situations.
  • Works well as part of a team and shares ideas to improve provision.
  • Is passionate about making a difference especially for children who need extra support to succeed.
