Job summary

Milk Education is recruiting experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join welcoming primary schools across Leeds. The role involves delivering pre-planned lessons, covering classes when needed, and supporting learning across EYFS to KS2.

Successful applicants will lead targeted interventions, support pupils with diverse needs, monitor progress, and maintain a positive learning environment. A proactive, flexible approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

  • HLTA status or an equivalent qualification required.
  • Recent experience in a primary school environment.
  • Ability to deliver lessons across multiple year groups.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Clear communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and cover classes when required.
  • Support learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2.
  • Lead targeted interventions to raise pupil attainment.
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan, prepare, and adapt activities.
  • Support pupils with diverse learning needs and monitor progress.
  • Maintain positive behaviour and engaging learning environments.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Leeds | Flexible Start or September 2026

Full-Time | Primary Schools | Long-Term & Permanent Opportunities

Milk Education is working with a range of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Leeds who are seeking experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join their teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA who enjoys supporting teaching and learning, delivering interventions, and leading whole-class lessons in the absence of the class teacher.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons and confidently cover classes when required
  • Support teaching and learning across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small group interventions to raise pupil attainment
  • Work alongside teachers to plan, prepare, and adapt learning activities
  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEN
  • Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Promote positive behaviour and maintain an engaging learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
