Job summary

Foundations for Life in Cuxton is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant to support learning across Nursery to Year 6. You will work with teachers to plan, prepare and deliver engaging activities, cover classes during PPA and staff absences, and provide targeted support to help pupils become confident, independent learners.

You will monitor pupil progress, collaborate with the SEND team, and contribute to maintaining a calm, inclusive classroom environment while building strong

Qualifications

  • Experience of leading groups and adapting to learners' needs.
  • Ability to monitor and record pupil progress and communicate findings.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging activities for whole classes, groups, and individuals.
  • Cover classes during PPA time and teacher absence to maintain consistency.
  • Provide targeted interventions to develop independence in pupils.
  • Monitor and report on pupils' progress and development.
  • Collaborate with SEND team to support pupils with SEND/SEMH needs.
  • Promote positive behaviour and a calm, inclusive learning environment.
  • Build professional relationships with pupils, parents and carers.

Are you a skilled, confident practitioner who makes learning irresistible for children? We have an exciting opportunity for an exceptional Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our team at Cuxton.

Our school sits in a village setting beside 6 Acre Wood. We serve Nursery to Year 6 as one primary school, made up of our Infant and Junior academies. We hold the IQM Inclusive School Award, and our values of Enjoy, Aspire, Explore, Respect, Believe and Community shape everything we do.

The role

As an HLTA, you will work alongside teachers and take responsibility for agreed learning activities. You will:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging learning activities for whole classes, small groups and individual pupils
  • Cover classes during PPA time and teacher absence, so that learning stays consistent and continuous
  • Provide targeted support and interventions that help pupils become confident, independent learners
  • Monitor, assess, record and report on pupils' progress and development
  • Work with teachers and our SEND team to plan and deliver individual support for pupils with special educational needs, including those with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Support positive behaviour and help keep the classroom a calm, focused and inclusive place to learn
  • Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, parents and carers
About you

We'd love to hear from you if you:

  • Are passionate about education and committed to helping every child reach their full potential
  • Have experience of working with children across the primary curriculum, including pupils with SEND and SEMH needs
  • Have excellent literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE grade 4/C or above in English and maths, or equivalent)
  • Hold HLTA status or a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent), or are willing to work towards HLTA status
  • Are confident leading a class, and adapt your approach to meet children's individual needs
  • Are enthusiastic, well organised, self-motivated and trustworthy
  • Communicate well and maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
  • Are committed to developing your own practice
