Job summary

Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support KS2 pupils across a long-term placement. The role involves leading learning, delivering targeted interventions, and contributing to an inclusive classroom environment.

The HLTA will lead sessions, adapt content for pupil needs, and collaborate with teachers and SEND professionals to ensure effective support and progression. DBS check on Update Service is required or willingness to apply.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or demonstrable higher-level experience in an educational setting.
• Experience supporting children with a range of SEND needs.
• Strong behaviour-support skills and a calm, consistent approach to regulation and de-escalation.
• Ability to lead learning independently and support teaching staff with planning and assessment.
• Caring, resilient, and dedicated attitude with a passion for inclusive education.

Responsibilities

• Lead small-group and whole-class sessions following teacher-planned activities.
• Deliver targeted 1:1 and group interventions to support communication, regulation, and progress.
• Support pupils with learning difficulties, behavioural needs, and social-emotional development.
• Prepare, adapt, and organise differentiated learning materials for full curriculum access.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND professionals, and external agencies to support pupils.
• Observe, record, and report pupil progress to inform planning and targets.

Job description

Teaching Personnel are seeking a committed and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils across KS2. This long-term role is ideal for an experienced practitioner who can lead learning, deliver interventions, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

As a HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning by:

• Leading small-group and whole-class sessions, following teacher-planned activities and adapting content to meet pupil needs.
• Delivering targeted 1:1 and group interventions, supporting communication, emotional regulation, academic progress, and life skills.
• Supporting pupils with learning difficulties, behavioural needs, and social/emotional development, promoting independence and positive self-esteem.
• Preparing, adapting, and organising differentiated learning materials to ensure full curriculum access.
• Collaborating with teachers, SEND professionals, and external agencies to ensure effective support for each pupil.
• Observing, recording, and reporting pupil progress to inform planning and support targets.

This role may also involve supporting pupils with physical, sensory, or complex additional needs where required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• HLTA status or demonstrable higher-level experience in an educational setting.
• Experience supporting children with a range of SEND needs.
• Strong behaviour-support skills and a calm, consistent approach to regulation and de-escalation.
• The ability to lead learning independently and support teaching staff with planning and assessment.
• A caring, resilient, and dedicated attitude, with a genuine passion for inclusive education.
• An Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
