Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a long-term role in Daventry, Northamptonshire, starting September 2026. You will deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS to Year 6 in the absence of the class teacher, lead whole-class activities, support small groups and individual pupils, and help with assessment and classroom organisation.

Qualifications

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a UK primary school.
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and teaching strategies.
• Experience across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2 is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in the absence of the class teacher.
• Lead whole-class learning and activities across Reception to Year 6.
• Support small groups and individual pupils to improve engagement and learning outcomes.
• Provide targeted interventions for pupils requiring additional academic or SEND support.
• Support teachers with lesson preparation, assessment, and classroom organisation where appropriate.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and encourage confidence and independence.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and the wider school team.

Salary: £100 - £110 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)

The Role:

What We're Looking For:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience within a UK primary school
• Strong understanding of the primary curriculum and effective teaching and learning strategies
• Experience working across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2
• Confidence leading whole-class learning and managing behaviour
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
• A flexible, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to supporting children's education
• A genuine commitment to providing high standards of learning, care, and inclusion
