Job summary

Milk Education is supporting a welcoming Bedlington school to recruit a dedicated HLTA for Key Stage 2. You will deliver planned lessons, lead group interventions and support pupils to reach their learning goals, working under teachers and KS2 colleagues.

You will collaborate with staff to plan engaging activities, maintain high behaviour standards and build positive relationships with pupils, families and the school. DBS Update Service is preferred and a permanent role may arise.

Qualifications

  • Qualified as an HLTA or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in a primary school, ideally KS2.
  • Confident leading whole-class learning and interventions.
  • Willing to apply for or hold an enhanced DBS Update Service.

  • Lead small group and one-to-one interventions to accelerate pupil progress.
  • Support teaching and learning across Key Stage 2.
  • Plan and deliver engaging learning activities with class teachers.

  • Support pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND where required.

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Key Stage 2 - Bedlington

Location: Bedlington, Northumberland
Pay: £120 - £130 per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time, Temporary with the opportunity to become permanent
Start Date: September 2026

Are you an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity? We’re working with a welcoming and supportive school in Bedlington to recruit a dedicated HLTA to support teaching and learning across Key Stage 2.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic HLTA who enjoys leading learning, delivering interventions and occasionally covering whole classes. You’ll work closely with teaching staff to ensure pupils receive engaging, high-quality learning experiences and are supported to reach their full potential.

About the Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you’ll:

About You

We’re looking for candidates who are:

  • Qualified as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or hold an equivalent qualification.
  • Experienced working within a primary school, ideally in Key Stage 2.
  • Confident leading whole-class learning and delivering interventions.
  • Flexible, organised and proactive in supporting teaching and learning.
  • Passionate about helping children achieve their full potential.
  • Hold (or are willing to apply for) an enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
