Job summary

Heidelberg Materials UK invites applications for a higher apprenticeship in Mineral Product Technology, based in Chester. You’ll earn while you learn, starting September 2027, gaining a Level 5 qualification and hands-on experience in our Technical department.

You’ll study part-time with a university, while working on real projects and mentored by experienced professionals to become an Area Technical Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Eligibility for apprenticeship with 80+ UCAS points and 5 GCSEs including Maths, English and Science.
• Commitment to learning alongside practical, hands-on industry experience.
• Valid UK driving licence is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Health & Safety: Support safety procedures and promote a strong safety culture.
• Environmental Management: Assist with permit compliance and resource-saving initiatives.
• Quality Assurance: Support the technical team to maintain product quality and efficiency.

Training to become a Mineral Products Technician

This apprenticeship offers a structured pathway to becoming a Area Technical Supervisor. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across all aspects of our concrete business, supported by expert mentorship and formal training. You’ll develop the technical and professional skills needed for a successful career in the construction industry.

Real Work, Real Experience

You’ll be employed from day one, working alongside experienced professionals on real projects that shape the built environment within our Technical department. You’ll gain practical, hands‑on experience in a Technical role.

Structured Learning

Alongside your job, you’ll study part-time with a university. Your learning is directly linked to your role, so you’ll see how theory applies in practice and vice versa.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Health & Safety: Support safety procedures and promote a strong safety culture through reporting and engagement.
• Environmental Management: Assist with permit compliance, resource‑saving initiatives, and community liaison activities.
• Quality Assurance: Work with the technical team to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.
• Compliance: Help ensure all activities meet legal and company standards.
• Operations & Production: Contribute to production targets, support plant and machinery management, and drive continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: 80+ UCAS points, 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) including Maths, English & Science
• Driving Licence: Full UK licence
• Skills: Self-starter, team player, excellent communicator, flexible and proactive
• Status : British citizenship or UK settled status.
