Job summary

Prysmian Group in the UK & Ireland seeks a Sales Manager for our Transmission projects. You will lead tendering, manage key customer relationships, coordinate bid teams and drive profitable contracts across onshore and offshore power transmission cables.

The role requires a degree in business or engineering, at least 3 years in project or solution sales, willingness to travel across the UK and Europe, and strong negotiation skills. Hybrid working and an annual bonus scheme are offered.

Qualifications

  • Degree level in a relevant business or engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a project and/or solution sales environment.
  • Understanding of power transmission infrastructure and cables industry beneficial.
  • Experience with high‑value turnkey/EPC bids preferred.
  • Strong ability to build long-term client relationships and negotiate.

Overview

We are looking for a passionate professional to join us as a Sales Manager in our projects business within the Transmission division of Prysmian. As part of the global commercial team, you will drive business development and sales activities for major onshore and offshore power transmission cable projects across the UK & Ireland markets. Reporting to the Regional Business Director, you will manage key customer relationships, lead the full tendering and contract negotiation process for their projects, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to secure new business. You will also contribute to commercial strategy, develop tailored customer solutions, and promote Prysmian’s value proposition. The role focuses on large-scale turnkey high-voltage cable projects for TSOs and private developers, including interconnectors between countries, mainland-island links, and offshore grid connections.

Your Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop business opportunities in the market, from the earliest stages of project initiation and development through to the contract closure, aiming to achieve and/or exceed defined sales targets
  • Lead the tender process, clearly communicating the bid strategy within the organisation and keeping the focus on the key objectives
  • Coordinate the offer preparation leading the bid team, endorsing their activities and content, inputting strategic, commercial, and contractual aspects to be applied, and ensuring governance in the commercial and risk management approach
  • Lead contract negotiations, coordinating offer clarifications with the wider team
  • Facilitate effective client communication, establishing positive long-term relationships and providing support to ensure high quality customer service
  • Attain a detailed knowledge of the market, its characteristics and trends, understanding all aspects and drivers of the relevant clients, competitors and other market stakeholders
  • Work closely with the regional Business Director to assess and prioritise the opportunities portfolio in defining achievable sales goals and developing a deliverable business strategy
  • Implement the defined sales strategies to achieve profitable business, to ensure solid relationships with market stakeholders and to establish new revenue streams
  • Foster effective working relationships across Sales and the other departments within the business
  • Monitor business performance objectives continually in line with individual and company targets
  • Develop and manage regular business reports relevant to sales and market activities
  • Support project team during project execution on commercial and client matters
  • Improve the quality and standard of proposals, as well as the implemented sales process, through effective analysis and application of lessons learnt
Your profile
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant business or engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a project and/or solution sales environment
  • Working experience or good understanding of the dynamics of the power transmission infrastructure business where a familiarity of the cables industry would be beneficial
  • Preferably be/have a Positive background and aptitude dealing with complex and high value turnkey/EPC bids
  • Strong business acumen, able and/or experienced in developing relations with customers
  • Problem-solving attitude & target-oriented mentality that recognises and manages identified risks
  • Team-oriented, able to network and share competences, ideas, and information with the wider team
  • An underlying interest to learn and take responsibility for the development of the business
  • Positive approach to building trusted relationships, comfortable to interact with all organisational levels internally & externally, up to and including senior management
  • Good communications skills, able to act as the company interface with customers and third parties, comfortable to speak publicly with wider audiences, such as at seminars or similar events
  • Pragmatic in setting and handling priorities effectively within a deadline driven environment
  • Technically apt, sufficient for participation in high level engineering discussions with customers
  • Competence in contractual texts, ideally with a knowledge of industry standard conditions
  • Willingness to travel, predominantly within UK and across Europe to attend visits to clients and stakeholders, participate in seminars or similar events, and to join company internal meetings in Italy.
