UK Power Networks in Ipswich is recruiting a High Voltage Control Engineer to join the Network Operations and Control team. The role reports to the Network Manager and supports a 24-hour control environment with shift patterns and potential progression to EHV control.

The job requires SCADA experience, strong safety discipline and knowledge of Distribution Safety Rules to ensure fast fault response and regulatory compliance. You will contribute to customer service metrics and licence compliance.

Competenze

• A minimum of an ONC or an equivalent is required for this role. An HNC is desirable
• Experience working on and around the high voltage system as an Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person is desirable
• Knowledge of the Distribution Safety Rules and associated electrical safety procedures

Mansioni

• Manage a section of the distribution network using SCADA and other network information systems
• Provide rapid restoration of supply in fault situations
• Provide technical advice to field operators and Operations Centre staff
• Sanction the issue of safety documents
• Comply with fault reporting requirements
• Check and authorise planned high voltage schedules to ensure compliance with safety rules
• Comply with Grid and Distribution Codes and relevant safety rules
• Maintain awareness of customer requirements and provide relevant information
• Communicate with Network Operations team and other business teams
• Help develop procedures and drive continuous improvement
• Mentor other control team members
• Minimise Customer Minutes Lost and Customer Interruptions to meet targets
• Provide data to support high level service measures
