Job summary

Omega is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our high-speed manufacturing site in the East Midlands. You will maintain packaging equipment, lead breakdown repairs and drive continuous improvement to maximise uptime and output.

Ideal candidates will be Electrically qualified (ONC/HND advantageous), with PLC experience (Siemens S5/S7), CMMS familiarity and a proactive, KPI-driven mindset within a safe, compliant environment.

Qualifications

• Experience on high-speed production or packaging lines in FMCG, pharma, or related industries.
• Electrically qualified to minimum craft level; ONC/HND advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on electrical and control systems.
• Experience programming, modifying and fault-finding PLCs (Siemens S5/S7).
• Knowledge of AC/DC drives, inverter systems and industrial electrical installations.
• COMPEX qualification or hazardous area experience desirable.
• Good understanding of pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Strong IT and CMMS experience.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and perform under pressure.
• Continuous improvement mindset in KPI-driven manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise high-speed production and packaging equipment to maximise uptime and efficiency.
• Lead breakdown response activities, diagnosing faults and delivering effective first-time repairs.
• Plan, execute and complete preventative maintenance activities in line with operational requirements.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to minimise recurring issues.
• Accurately record maintenance activities and equipment history using CMMS systems.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and production performance.
• Support engineering projects, equipment upgrades and installation activities.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, quality and hygiene standards.
• Participate in internal and external audits while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Contribute to maintenance budget objectives and support team development initiatives.
