Job summary

Academics is recruiting a High Needs Teaching Assistant in Rochester to support pupils with high SEN needs across KS1 and KS2. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, helping children access learning and build independence, and contributing to a calm, inclusive classroom environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals. DBS enhanced clearance is required or a willingness to apply for a new DBS, with a patient and adaptable approach to

• Holds Enhanced DBS (or willing to apply).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

High Needs Teaching Assistant

Location: Rochester Hours: Full-time Phase: KS1 & KS2

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate High Needs Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming school in Rochester, supporting pupils with high SEN needs.

The successful candidate will be confident working on a 1:1 basis and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The role will involve:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with high additional needs
• Supporting children across KS1 and KS2
• Helping pupils access learning and develop their independence
• Supporting with behaviour, emotional regulation and pastoral needs where appropriate
• Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
• Creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working with children with high SEN needs
• Is confident providing 1:1 support
• Can work effectively across both KS1 and KS2
• Is patient, caring, resilient and adaptable
• Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
• Holds a full Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to apply for a new Enhanced DBS
• Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
