Job summary

Lightways (Contractors) Limited, a family-run business with 40+ years in streetlighting, civils and roadworks, is seeking a reliable operative. The role involves maintaining high technical standards, attending briefings, and driving/operating vehicles and plant.

You will undertake highway maintenance and street lighting installations, perform pre-shift vehicle checks, and keep defect books up to date. The job runs a 9-hour shift from Monday to Friday, with overtime and weekend work available.

Qualifications

• Valid driving licence is essential.
• HGV licence is essential.
• Lorry Loader certificate preferred.
• Experience in civils/masonry, surfacing or streetlighting on roads is preferred.
• Traffic Management experience and CSCS certification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high technical standards.
• Attend project and work briefings as required.
• Drive/operate vehicles/plant requiring general and specialist skills.
• Undertake all aspects of highway maintenance works and street lighting installation.
• Carry out vehicle checks prior to shift starting, correctly filling in defect books.
• Record Driver Hours.
• Follow Health & Safety policy to keep yourself, others and the working environment safe.
• 9 hour shift.
• Monday to Friday.
• Overtime and weekend working is available.
