Job summary

Air Products in Worcester is seeking an HGV Technician to maintain and repair heavy vehicles and cryogenic delivery equipment. You will work within the UK & Ireland Distribution team to ensure fleet safety, reliability and compliance.

The role offers on-the-job training to become an Automotive/Cryogenic Vehicle Maintenance Technician, with focus on diagnostics, servicing and record-keeping. A time-served apprenticeship or related qualification is required.

Qualifications

• Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Technology, or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in maintenance of HGVs, trailers or commercial vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication, teamwork and record-keeping abilities.
• Commitment to safety, quality and ongoing learning.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on HGVs and trailers (3.5t to 44t GVW).
• Maintain cryogenic vehicle systems, including tanks, pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Diagnose faults using diagnostic tools and interpret schematics and data.
• Complete maintenance records accurately using paper and electronic systems.
• Ensure compliance with DVSA, HSE, and company safety standards.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, testing, and fault-finding to maximise fleet reliability.

We are seeking a HGV Technician to join our team in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills in cryogenic vehicle maintenance, with full on-the-job training provided to become an Automotive/Cryogenic Vehicle Maintenance Technician.

Working as part of the UK & Ireland Distribution team, you will carry out the maintenance, inspection, diagnostics, and repair of HGVs, trailers, and cryogenic delivery equipment, ensuring all fleet assets are safe, reliable, compliant, and operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on HGVs and trailers (3.5t to 44t GVW).
• Maintain cryogenic vehicle systems, including tanks, pumps, valves, and associated equipment.
• Diagnose faults using technical diagnostic tools and interpret schematics and technical data.
• Complete maintenance records accurately using paper and electronic systems.
• Ensure compliance with DVSA, HSE, and company safety standards.
• Conduct preventative maintenance, testing, and fault-finding to maximise fleet reliability.
• Follow safe working practices, risk assessments, and operating procedures.

What we are looking for?

• Time-served apprenticeship or qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
• Experience in HGV, trailer, or commercial vehicle maintenance.
• Strong diagnostic, fault-finding, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
