Job summary

Lanes Group Ltd in London is seeking a customer‑facing Utility Operative to support the Thames Water contract. You will travel to residential sites in a two‑person team, operate high‑pressure water jetting equipment and perform drainage maintenance. Location: Deephams, Enfield.

Permanent, full‑time, 4 on/4 off shifts (7am–7pm and 10am–10pm). Salary: £50,000 per year including basic pay, overtime and bonuses.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV driving licence (required).
• Experience delivering customer service in field roles is preferred.
• Knowledge of health and safety best practices and PPE usage.
• Ability to work in a two‑person team and in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Travel to residential sites in a two‑person team to operate a high‑pressure water jet for drainage restoration.
• Clean and maintain drainage systems and record reports on equipment.
• Run diagnostics and carry out repairs on drains and associated systems.
• Provide excellent customer service and follow health and safety guidelines.
• Liaise with clients and maintain accurate stock checks and tool inspections.

Purpose of the role:

Due to continued growth and development, we are now looking for customer focused people to join us in our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste-water network and drainage problems.

Location: Deephams, Enfield

Job Type:Permanent, full-time

Hours: 4 on 4 off, 40.25 hours (earlies 7am-7pm and lates 10am-10pm)

Salary: £50,000 per annum (this is made up of basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

Key Responsibilities:

• Travelling to residential sites via a HGV in a two person team, around the region, powering a high-pressure water jet for restoration
• Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems
• Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided
• Run diagnostics and repairs on drains
• Delivering good customer service
• Maintaining good health and safety practise while carrying out works
• Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished
• Comply with health and safety responsibilities, i.e. PPE / safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users
• Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms
• Operate JHL specification vacuum tankers and associated equipment
• Safely access vehicle cabs, sites and offices using correct procedures (e.g., three points of contact...)
• Manipulate (including loading and unloading to / from tanker pipe storage trays) flexible pipework in a safe manner utilising correct manual handling techniques
• Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE or utilising the lone worker system
• Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival
• Liaising with the client regarding process and any updates
• Provide support to your colleagues
• Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use
• Report any defects or malfunctions
• Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception
• Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them
• Any other reasonable ad-hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management
