Job summary

Newcastle City Council is seeking a time-served Motor Vehicle Technician (HGV) to join the City Transport heavy vehicle workshop. The role focuses on maintenance, diagnostics and repair of the council's HGV fleet, with an apprenticeship background and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent required.

You will work 37 hours per week, with a permanent contract and a starting salary in the advertised range. A category B driving licence is essential, with D1 or C considered advantageous.

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification and experience in HGV service inspections and MOT preparation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose and repair the council's Heavy Goods Vehicle fleet 3.5t and upwards.
• Work in the Heavy Goods vehicle workshop at Newington Road.
• Support MOT testing and ensure reliable vehicle readiness.
