Job summary

Dennis Eagle UK in Bridgwater is seeking a proactive HGV Technician to maintain and repair refuse collection vehicles to the highest standards. This hands-on role involves diagnosing faults, servicing to VOSA/MOT standards, and keeping accurate records across customer sites.

The ideal candidate will have NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to travel with flexible hours, including overtime.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance is required.
• Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair and servicing.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Understanding of electronics, hydraulics, and wiring diagrams.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including overtime.
• Experience with electric vehicles is a bonus (IRTEC qualification or HGV Class 2 licence).

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment.
• Service vehicles to VOSA standards and prepare them for MOT inspections.
• Complete body and chassis repairs and ensure compliance with Department of Transport specifications.
• Maintain accurate records and enter job details into company systems.
• Liaise professionally with customers and work independently at customer sites.
• Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to company standards.
• Follow health and safety procedures and conduct risk assessments where required.
• Undertake training to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
