Job summary

Dennis Eagle in Chester-le-Street is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join the Aftermarket team. The role involves diagnosing faults, servicing and repairing our specialist fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and on the road.

You will diagnose faults, solve problems and deliver high-quality work. The position requires Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance or equivalent, with experience on commercial vehicles and strong diagnostic skills.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance (or equivalent).
• Experience maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams.
• A proactive approach to problem solving.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment.
• Service and maintain vehicles to industry and company standards.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and perform quality checks.
• Carry out body, chassis and hydraulic repairs as required.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues.
• Complete job records accurately and update workshop systems.
• Work closely with customers to provide a professional service.
• Follow health, safety and quality procedures at all times.
• Support continuous improvement through ongoing technical training and development.
