Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to service, maintain and repair a varied fleet of heavy vehicles. You will diagnose faults using specialist equipment, prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure high safety and quality standards.

The role requires a Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair qualification or equivalent, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified with Level 3 Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
• Proven ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults.
• Full UK driving licence; HGV licence beneficial but not essential.
• Good knowledge of DVSA inspection and maintenance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Complete scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance in line with DVSA requirements.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and electronic faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Repair and replace components including brakes, steering, suspension, transmissions and electrical systems.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and ensure roadworthiness standards are met.
• Attend vehicle breakdowns when required.
• Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets and compliance documentation.
• Identify additional defects and report any required repairs.
• Ensure work is completed efficiently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
• Keep tools, equipment and workshop clean, organised and maintained.
