Job summary

NVD UK Ltd in Birtley, Tyne & Wear is recruiting HGV Mechanics for a full-time role on a three‑day rotating shift (06:00–18:30). You will maintain and repair heavy vehicles, prepare them for MOT, and assist with training. A competitive package accompanies this position.

The ideal candidate holds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, with HGV experience and a full driving licence. OT opportunities, Pension, and health benefits are part of the package.

Qualifications

• Must hold a formal qualification NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Heavy plant experience will also be considered.
• HGV mechanical experience is a must
• A Class one(C+E) licence would be preferable but not essential.
• Excellent communication and team working skills.
• Ability to use tools and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Determined and resilient, with the drive to complete tasks.
• Ideally have experience working on Mercedes, Renault & Scania.
• Ideally have experience working with hydraulic systems.
• Full driving license.

• Carry out general mechanical planned and corrective maintenance.
• Prepare vehicles for MOT.
• Carry out diagnostic fault identification and rectification repair.
• Assist with apprenticeship training.

This role is working on a three-day shift from 06:00 to 18:30 and full-time position based in the Birtley workshop. (for Example, the work pattern will be Monday to Wednesday, off 7 days, work from Thursday to Saturday, off Sunday and then repeat.

Pay and Benefits

• £40,560 - £55,770 per year plus overtime.

• Full training provided in IRTEC, BPW, Knorr-Bremse, Rolfo, Transporter engineering, LOHR. etc
