Job summary

Biffa Bromborough Depot in Wirral is seeking an HGV Technician to join our team. The role offers a joining bonus of £1,500 and a pay rate of £20.59 per hour plus shift allowance, with pattern 6:00-15:30 and 13:30-23:00 or 12:30-22:00.

You will maintain and repair vehicles and waste management equipment to meet health and safety, DVSA requirements, and operator licence commitments, with opportunities to upskill and progress within a diverse fleet. Overtime and call-out options are available.

Qualifications

• Fully skilled with Level 3 HGV/PSV apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Technician level qualification required.
• HGV licence desirable; driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair vehicles and waste handling equipment to meet safety standards.
• Carry out scheduled preventative service inspections to meet operator licence commitments.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety and DVSA requirements.
• Work across a diverse fleet from light vans to 44t assets.

Shift Patterns:

• 6:00 - 15.30 Monday - Friday
• 13.30 - 23:00 Monday - Thursday & 12.30-22:00 Friday, Overtime & Call Out Available

You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of vehicles and waste management handling equipment to meet health and safety legislation and DVSA requirements.

You will also carry out scheduled preventative service and maintenance inspections to meet Biffa's operator's licence commitments.

Our fleet ranges from light commercial vans all the way up to 44t articulated specialist assets, a real diverse fleet giving plenty of opportunity to learn and develop your existing technical knowledge.

We are looking for professionals that may have had the previous roles - PSV Mechanic, Heavy Goods Technician, Lorry Mechanic, LGV Technician, HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic.

If you are a skilled or semi-skilled Technician, we would still love to hear from you as we can offer upskilling and career development.

Requirements

• Fully skilled having achieved a full level 3 HGV / PSV apprentice qualification/City and Guilds Qualification/NVQ Qualification
• Technician level
• Must have a minimum of a car/van driving licence
• HGV licence desirable
• IRTEC Qualification desirable
