About the Role

Purpose: Join Beauparc as an HGV Technician at our Manchester site, providing service, maintenance, and breakdown cover for our fleet of 26 HGVs.

Key accountabilities:

  1. Vehicle Maintenance: Carry out routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and repairs on heavy goods vehicles.
  2. Attend to breakdowns as necessary.
  3. Prepare and present vehicles for annual testing.
  4. Manage your workload to ensure maximum vehicle uptime.
  5. Diagnostic Procedures: Diagnose, identify, and troubleshoot mechanical issues on vehicle and body systems.
  6. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of repairs, services, and parts used in the maintenance database.
  7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines during all maintenance procedures.

Areas of responsibility

  1. Perform routine maintenance.
  2. Electrical and engine troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  3. Engine and transmission repairs.
  4. Perform incidental welding operations and other mechanical repair work as required.
  5. Perform inspections and test mechanical units.
  6. Diagnose faults and malfunctions; adjust, repair, and/or replace parts and components of transport systems.
  7. Provide training and advice to apprentices and co-workers as required.
  8. Use power and hand tools related to motor vehicle service and repair.
  9. Work shift hours and extra hours as required to meet business demands.

Experience and Skills:

  1. Qualified Heavy Goods Vehicle Mechanic (HGV Mechanic).
  2. Minimum 3 years post-apprenticeship experience in HGV maintenance and repair.
  3. High degree of product and technical knowledge.
  4. Strong diagnostics capabilities with good computer skills.
  5. Organized and self-motivated with strong communication skills.
  6. Motivated team player with a strong sense of commitment.
  7. Ability to understand and follow instructions via written, verbal, or diagrammatic methods.
  8. Knowledge of waste collection vehicles is preferred.
