Job summary

DAF Trucks UK Ltd in Sheffield is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join our night shift team. You will service and repair a wide range of trucks, perform safety inspections and diagnose faults, with duties including road tests where permitted.

We offer an excellent hourly rate, overtime at premium rates, extensive training with DAF, and progression opportunities, with 22 days holiday plus statutory leave pro-rata, increasing after five years' service.

Qualifications

• Experience as HGV Technician or similar in CV/Heavy vehicle sectors.
• Qualified to Level 3 or time served in CV maintenance.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and maintaining trucks and vehicles.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOTs.
• Fault diagnostics and repairs to manufacturer procedures.
• Road test vehicles when permitted.

Ford and Slater are one the UK's largest DAF Truck dealers group with 16 locations from Norwich to Birtley in the North East, employing over 900 staff whilst remaining a family run business. We currently have a vacancy for an HGV Technician working nightshift at our Sheffield dealership. Night shift working hours: Alternate weeks, Monday - Thursday / Tuesday - Friday, 18:00 to 06:30.

The HGV Technician role / responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Servicing and maintaining a wide variety of Trucks and Vehicles.
• Carry out safety inspections and prepare vehicles for MOT's.
• Fault Diagnostics.
• Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer's procedures and in a safe and responsible manner.
• Road test vehicle when required, subject to licence restrictions.

HGV TECHNICIAN (Nightshift) - Sheffield

Who are we looking for as an HGV Technician:

Ideally, you will have the following skills but training will be provided:

• Previous experience working as an HGV Technician / Mechanic within the HGV, Commercial Vehicle, LGV, PSV, Heavy Plant, Car or an associated sector.
• If you are a Light Commercial or Car Mechanic who would like to transfer your skills then we can offer you training to become an HGV Technician.
• Ideally have served a recognised apprenticeship or training programme (qualified to Level 3, C&G, NVQ or equivalent) in Commercial Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Or be a time served HGV Technician.
• Excellent technical knowledge ensuring maintenance and repairs are carried out to manufacturer's procedures.
• Sound knowledge to accurately diagnosis faults.
• Ability to carry safety inspections, prepare vehicles for MOT's and participate in breakdowns.
• General level of computer literacy is advantageous.
• Own tool kit.
• Full UK driving licence.
