HGV Technician

My client has a Workshop-Based HGV Technician position available near Hitchin in Hertfordshire.

Location: Hitchin, Hertfordshire

Salary: £41,000 - £46,000, plus Overtime

Hours: Monday to Friday, 45 hours per week, 7:30 am - 5:30 pm

My client, a growing Commercial Vehicle Maintenance Company, is looking to employ an experienced HGV Technician for their workshop near Hitchin, Hertfordshire.

Role Responsibilities:

• Carrying out scheduled servicing, inspections, and preparations for testing on all fleet vehicles (HGV and LCV vehicles).
• Performing MOT Tests.
• Undertaking regular safety inspections of HGVs in accordance with statutory requirements to maintain the Goods Vehicle Operators Licence and repairing defects as necessary.
• Inspecting vehicles to diagnose faults (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic) and repairing as needed.
• Completing all records related to inspections, servicing, and repairs in compliance with statutory and administrative requirements.
• Liaising with colleagues, vehicle operatives, and managers to prioritize workload, organize parts, and seek specialist support when required.
• Providing out-of-hours repairs and breakdown cover as required for frontline services.

Requirements:

• Level 3 City & Guilds or NVQ qualification, or time served
• HGV licence is advantageous
• Diagnostic experience is advantageous
• Full UK Driving Licence
