Job summary

Auto Skills UK in Goole is seeking an HGV Technician for a permanent night shift position. You will inspect, service and repair heavy vehicles to ensure safety and compliance.

The role operates on a 4 on, 4 off pattern, 6:00pm to 6:00am, with a £50,378 salary plus overtime (£28.51/hr) and a range of benefits including pension, life assurance and discounts. NVQ3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, or proven HGV Technician experience.
• Previous HGV or commercial vehicle maintenance experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Good mechanical and electrical knowledge.
• Ability to use hand and power tools confidently.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Class 1 licence desirable but not essential.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers.
• Mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic fault finding.
• Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults.
• Electrical repairs and component replacement.
• Welding and metalwork when required.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT/DVSA inspections.
• Accurately completing job cards and maintenance records.
• Supporting apprentices and other members of the workshop team.
• Carrying out repairs and inspections on workshop equipment when required.

HGV Technician - East Riding of Yorkshire - Nights

Location: Goole

Salary: £50,378 per annum + Overtime

Hours: 4 on, 4 off | 6:00pm-6:00am

Contract: Permanent

Overtime: £28.51 per hour

Working Hours

The role operates on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern:

• 4 nights on: 6:00pm-6:00am
• 4 days off

The Role

As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and maintained to a high standard.

Duties will include:

• Servicing, inspection, maintenance and repair of HGVs and trailers
• Mechanical, electrical, electronic and hydraulic fault finding
• Diagnosing and repairing vehicle faults
• Electrical repairs and component replacement
• Welding and metalwork when required

About You
