Job summary

Consult2Recruit is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic in South Yorkshire with DAF training to join a busy workshop. You will maintain and repair a varied fleet of heavy commercial vehicles and contribute to ensuring roadworthiness.

The role requires strong diagnostic skills, hands-on fault finding, and a reliable, team-focused approach. This permanent position offers a Monday–Friday pattern with a Saturday rota and up to £60,000 DOE.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience as an HGV Mechanic.
• DAF training and/or experience.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Experience on a range of HGVs and commercial vehicles.
• Good knowledge of vehicle maintenance and repair.
• Reliable, professional and team-focused.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and repairing the fleet.
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and test.
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify and repair faults.
• Attending vehicle breakdowns as required.
• Replacing wheels and re-torquing.
• Carrying out vehicle inspections per Operator Licence.
• Completing running repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Completing all relevant paperwork and job cards.
• Working as part of a busy workshop team.
• Supporting colleagues and assisting in other areas.

HGV Mechanic DAF Trained

South Yorkshire | Up to £60,000 DOE | Permanent

Shift Pattern

Monday Friday: 7:00am 5:00pm
Saturday: 7:00am 12:00pm on a rota basis

Our client, a well-established and highly regarded waste management business in South Yorkshire, is looking for an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their busy workshop team on a permanent basis.

The ideal candidate will have strong DAF experience and training, together with a solid background in the maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy commercial vehicles.

The Role

As an HGV Mechanic, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of a varied commercial vehicle fleet, including:

• DAF skip trucks
• Roll-on/roll-off vehicles
• Grab vehicles
• Tippers
• Artic units
• Walking-floor vehicles
• Company vans

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining and repairing the company's HGV and commercial vehicle fleet
• Preparing vehicles for MOT and presenting them for test
• Using diagnostic equipment to identify and repair faults
• Attending vehicle breakdowns as required
• Replacing wheels and carrying out re-torquing
• Carrying out vehicle inspections in line with Operator Licence requirements
• Completing running repairs and preventative maintenance
• Completing all relevant paperwork and job cards
• Working effectively as part of a busy workshop team
• Supporting colleagues and assisting in other areas of the business when required

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:
