Job summary

Culina Group Limited is seeking an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter for night shifts at Minworth. You will shunt vehicles and trailers, carry out safety checks and coordinate with multiple teams to keep yard operations efficient. A valid C+E entitlement, CPC, and Tacho Card are essential, with prior shunting experience preferred.

The role runs on a 4 on 4 off nights pattern (18:00–06:00) with a base rate plus night and shift allowances. Strong attention to detail and safety are required.

Qualifications

• Full C+E entitlement is essential for this position.
• In-date CPC and Tacho Card required.
• Previous shunting experience is desirable.
• Knowledge of driver hours and the Transport Directive
• Ability to perform under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-discipline, motivation and attention to detail are important.

Responsibilities

• Safely shunt vehicles and trailers around the yard.
• Position trailers according to site instructions.
• Carry out safety checks and report defects or incidents promptly.
• Use two-way radios to coordinate with Transport and Yard teams.
• Assist with trailer temperature checks, fridge settings and fuel levels as needed.
• Manage yard traffic flow safely and efficiently.
• Coordinate with other departments for smooth loading/unloading.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced HGV Class 1 Shunter to join our team in Minworth. This is a great opportunity for a reliable and safety-focused driver who enjoys working in a fast-paced transport environment and takes pride in keeping yard operations moving efficiently.

Working on a 4 on 4 off night shift pattern, you will be responsible for shunting vehicles around the yard and supporting smooth trailer movements across the operation. There may also be some elements of driving off site, so applicants must hold the correct Class 1 licence and have all required driver documentation in date.

Shift:

• 4on 4off Nights - 18:00 - 06:00

Salary:

• 18.74 per hour (Base rate of £16.49 plus Night Allowance of £1.25 and Shift Allowance of £1)

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Safely shunt vehicles and trailers around the yard.
• Position trailers in the correct areas in line with site instructions.
• Complete safety checks and report defects, damage or incidents promptly.
• Use two-way radios to communicate with the Transport and Yard teams.
• Support trailer temperature checks, fridge settings and fuel levels where required.
• Manage traffic flow in and out of the yard safely and efficiently.
• Liaise with other departments to support smooth loading and unloading.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, hygiene and housekeeping.

Qualifications

What we're looking for:

A Full C+E entitlement along with an in-date CPC and Tacho Card is essential for this position.

• Previous shunting experience.
• Knowledge of driver hours and road Transport Directive
• Experience of working in a very fast paced environment.
• Ability to work to challenging deadlines in a pressurised environment.
• Self-disciplined and motivated.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
