Job summary

Thrive Group Oldham seeks a HGV Refuse Driver to cover Oldham and surrounding areas, delivering a quality refuse and recycling service. You will be based at the Oldham depot, working in stop-start traffic and tight spaces, leading a small crew and maintaining high standards of customer care.

12 months experience required; you must hold a Class 2 HGV licence (CAT C) with CPC and Digi-Tacho, and comply with current transport regulations.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe, efficient refuse collection service and recycling duties.
• Undertake daily vehicle checks and report defects.
• Operate vehicle power mechanism and supervise crew.
• Work as part of a team and maintain high customer care.
• Drive in stop-start traffic, manoeuvre in tight spaces safely.

Job description

Thrive Group Oldham are seeking HGV Refuse Drivers to work for the local authority in and around the Oldham area.

12 months experience required

You will be based from their Oldham depot and required to drive around the Oldham Borough with a team. You will be required to provide, in a safe and effective manner, quality and efficient Refuse Collection Service including all recycling collection activities, in all weather conditions.

Rate of pay: £15.29 per hour

Hours: 7.00am - 5.00pm. Monday - Friday

Location: Oldham and all surrounding areas

Purpose of the job

You will be required to provide, in a safe and effective manner, quality and efficient Refuse Collection Service including all recycling collection activities, in all weather conditions.

The type of driving is very different to many other driving roles. This is stop-start driving, where you must be very aware of your surroundings, as working often in tight spaces/areas. You will be required to manoeuvre the vehicle around other parked vehicles safely and cautiously, being aware of pedestrians and members of the public.

Duties to include but not limited to:

• Undertaking vehicle checks each morning and reporting any defects.
• Operating the power mechanism.
• Supervising duties and responsible for the crew.
• Working as part of a team.
• Ensuring that the highest level of customer care is maintained.

Requirements:

• Must hold a Class 2 HGV Licence (CAT C) a CPC and Digi-Tacho
• Knowledge of the current transport regulations
• Ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism
• Polite and friendly manner at all times
• Ability to drive in all weather conditions
• Lead by example
• Previous Waste/Refuse experience preferred, but not essential - Training will be provided on the job
