Job summary

Smith Haulage Limited seeks a dedicated HGV technician/yard operative to support the fleet of Volvo/Scania tractor units and walking floor trailers. You will also keep the yard tidy and safe, with occasional on-call breakdown support in fleet vans.

Responsibilities include fleet maintenance, yard organisation, equipment repairs, forklift operation, and assisting clients in the yard with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• General HGV mechanical knowledge.
• Time served within the industry.
• Driving licence (car).

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking HGV technician/yard operative to join our growing team. You will be responsible for assisting in maintaining our fleet of Volvo/Scania tractor units and walking floor trailers and the cleanliness and organisation of the yard ensuring that all materials and equipment are stored safely and efficiently. This role is crucial in supporting the overall operations of our facility by keeping the yard in optimal condition Your role will also include from time to time going on call outs in one of our fleet support vans for breakdowns.
