Job summary

Hovis Bakeries is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic for nights to maintain LGVs, trailers and related equipment. The role involves ensuring compliance with VOSA standards and operating within a busy VMU.

You will work independently within a structured 4 on 4 off pattern, supporting fleet availability and safe logistics operations across the network.

Qualifications

• City and Guilds LGV Qualifications or equivalent is required.
• LGV Licence C+E is essential.
• Strong communication and a proactive, customer-focused approach.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and quality workmanship.
• Experience in fleet maintenance or transport operations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspection, servicing and repairs on LGVs, trailers and ancillary equipment.
• Ensure work meets VOSA standards and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with VMU shift leaders and logistics teams to maximise vehicle availability.
• Deliver high-quality work efficiently to achieve KPIs.
• Follow health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Diagnose faults and perform repairs with appropriate tools.
• Support subcontractors to ensure timely, cost-effective maintenance.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Provide flexible support across VMU duties when required.

Key Accountabilities
