Job summary
Hough Green Garage Ltd in Telford is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to maintain, service and repair a modern fleet of over 200 vehicles and trailers, ensuring fleet reliability, safety, and compliance for a fast, professional service.
The permanent role offers Monday to Friday 08:00–18:00 with alternate Saturday mornings, pay starting from £18.00 per hour plus overtime and call-out, and benefits including PPE, a uniform, and access to online training courses.
Qualifications
- NVQ/BTEC/City & Guilds Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or an equivalent apprenticeship.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Strong knowledge of commercial vehicles and trailers.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned fleet maintenance, servicing and repairs.
- Complete 6-weekly inspections, pre-MOT checks and MOT preparation.
- Diagnose faults and carry out timely repairs.
- Document damage and report issues with vehicles or equipment.
- Replace components per maintenance schedules.
- Ensure vehicles meet safety and legal standards.
- Maintain service records using online systems.
- Adhere to Health & Safety regulations and company procedures.
