Job summary

Arnold Clark Group is recruiting an experienced HGV Technician for our Newhouse depot. You will inspect and repair HGVs to DVSA standards, working solo and as part of a busy team.

A Category C+E licence and an HGV Level 3 qualification are required, with training provided to become EV-accredited. We offer a salary range of £40,000–£50,000 DOE plus benefits, overtime paid at time and a half, 33 days' annual leave, private healthcare, sick pay and generous staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Must hold an HGV Level 3 automotive qualification.
• Category C+E driving licence is required.
• Ability to carry out repairs to DVSA standards.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills and team player.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out periodic safety inspections of all HGVs to DVSA standards
• Fault diagnosis on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Attending broken down or accident-damaged vehicles, repairing as required
• Fitting and removing a large range of ancillary equipment, accessories and livery
• Completing the appropriate paperwork accurately
• Updating internal computer systems
• Ensuring all relevant legislation and health and safety procedures are adhered to
• Maintaining work areas in a safe and clean condition
• Carrying out other duties as instructed by supervisory staff

Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday 8am – 5.30pm

About the role

As a HGV Technician, you will carry out inspections and repairs in accordance with DVSA requirements, working independently and as part of a busy team. You must hold an appropriate Category C + E driving licence and have high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out periodic safety inspections of all HGVs to DVSA standards

Essential skills

• Previous experience and an HGV Level 3 automotive qualification
