Job summary

Arnold Clark is seeking an HGV Technician in the UK to perform inspections and repairs in line with DVSA requirements. A Category C+E driving licence is essential and accuracy in all tasks is required for independent or team-based work.

You will be part of a busy team with opportunities to review salary annually and benefits including training to become EV-accredited. The role offers flexible hours, generous holiday, and progression prospects within Arnold Clark Transport.

Qualifications

• HGV Level 3 automotive qualification is essential.

• Ability to perform DVSA-compliant repairs and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Carry out periodic safety inspections of HGVs to DVSA standards.
• Diagnose faults in hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
• Attend breakdowns or accident-damaged vehicles and repair as required.
• Fit and remove a wide range of equipment, accessories and livery.
• Complete paperwork accurately and update internal systems.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures and keep work areas clean.

Hours

Full time: Monday – Friday 8am – 5.30pm

About The Role

As a HGV Technician, you will carry out inspections and repairs in accordance with DVSA requirements, working independently and as part of a busy team. You must hold an appropriate Category C + E driving licence and have high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.

Day-to-day duties

• Carrying out periodic safety inspections of all HGVs to DVSA standards
• Fault diagnosis on hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• Attending broken down or accident-damaged vehicles, repairing as required
• Fitting and removing a large range of ancillary equipment, accessories and livery
• Completing the appropriate paperwork accurately
• Updating internal computer systems
• Ensuring all relevant legislation and health and safety procedures are adhered to
• Maintaining work areas in a safe and clean condition
• Carrying out other duties as instructed by supervisory staff

Essential Skills

• Previous experience and an HGV Level 3 automotive qualification
• You must hold a Category C + E driving licence
• Ability to carry out repairs in accordance with DVSA and the Group Operators licence
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Strong communication skills and ability to be a team player
• High standards and a commitment to accuracy
