Job description

Job Opportunity: HGV Mechanic

Brook Street (UK) Limited is working with our Newry client to recruit a time-served HGV Mechanic to join their expanding business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for vehicle fleet inspections, diagnostic testing, and carrying out servicing, maintenance, and repairs, including the replacement of parts.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete jobs ranging from general servicing to fault finding, working on electrics, and conducting strip and rebuild procedures.
  • Ensure repairs are performed according to manufacturer’s procedures in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Carry out repairs in accordance with Standard Times using appropriate special tools.
  • Assist in fault diagnosis processes.
  • Follow warranty procedures during repairs and handle warranty material upon completion.
  • Collaborate with the parts team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted.
  • Road test vehicles if required (HGV license holder).
  • Assist with roadside breakdowns if necessary.
  • Report all vehicle defects to the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Complete service sheets as per company instructions.
  • Accurately record job times and complete job cards.
  • Maintain workshop facilities, equipment, and tools in a clean and functional state.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when appropriate.
  • Support the development of apprentices and trainees when required.
Criteria:
  • Must be a time-served technician with a strong desire to develop their career within a progressive organization.
  • Relevant experience in the truck, bus, and trailer industry is essential.
