Job summary

Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician to join a busy fleet workshop in Worksop. This temporary to permanent role offers Monday to Friday day shifts, with no nights and an hourly rate of £19.70.

Immediate start available for an experienced technician looking for long-term opportunity in the East Midlands region. Ideal candidates will have strong experience with refuse collection vehicles or other specialist commercial vehicles

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an HGV Mechanic / HGV Technician / LGV Mechanic.
• Strong HGV mechanical and fault-finding knowledge.
• Experience with servicing and vehicle repairs.
• Good understanding of vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
• Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious.
• Experience working on refuse collection vehicles, waste vehicles, RCVs or other specialist commercial vehicles would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Service, inspect and maintain HGVs and commercial vehicles
• Diagnose and repair mechanical faults
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance
• Complete vehicle safety checks and defect repairs
• Work on braking, suspension, steering, transmission and other vehicle systems
• Carry out electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic repairs where required
• Prepare vehicles for MOT and statutory inspections
• Complete maintenance records and workshop paperwork
• Ensure all vehicles are safe, roadworthy and compliant with relevant regulations
• Maintain a safe and tidy workshop environment

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HGV Mechanic, LGV Mechanic, Commercial Vehicle Technician or Fleet Technician looking for stable, Monday-to-Friday work with long-term potential.

HGV Mechanic Duties

Service, inspect and maintain HGVs and commercial vehicles

Diagnose and repair mechanical faults
