Job summary

TPA Portable Roadways is expanding its driver team in the UK to support growing infrastructure projects. We seek confident Class 1 or Class 2 drivers for a role that involves working away Monday–Friday, delivering and installing temporary roadway solutions with a Portable Roadway Operative.

Full training is provided, and a modern fleet includes welfare facilities and PPE. Salary £44,115 with OTE £50,000 and a £4,500 Night Out Allowance.

Qualifications

• HGV licence required (Class 1 or 2).
• Experience in similar role preferred but full training is provided.
• CPC Training Card is required.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, transport, install, and recover equipment and hire fleet.
• Inspect, maintain and clean vehicles, trailers, cranes and equipment.
• Carry out daily risk assessments and checks before operations.
• Coordinate with customers, Stock Controller and Logistics on schedules and site plans.
• Provide customer familiarisation of equipment as needed.
• Confirm daily panel movements and process dispatches/collections.
• Identify damaged items and ensure no excess materials remain on site.

Job description

As TPA approaches its 25-year anniversary, we are expanding our driver team to support continued growth. TPA are a trusted UK provider of flexible access solutions, delivering temporary roadways and rail access for infrastructure, construction, and events projects nationwide. We are seeking confident Class 1 or Class 2 drivers to join our team in a role that involves working away Monday–Friday, delivering and installing temporary roadway solutions alongside a Portable Roadway Operative. Experience in a similar role or operating a lorry-mounted crane/loader is beneficial, though full training is provided. You’ll be equipped with a modern fleet featuring onboard welfare facilities, high-quality tools, seasonal PPE, and all necessary hygiene products making your environment as comfortable as possible and a home from home. This is a hands-on role offering responsibility, variety, and strong development opportunities beyond driving alone. Salary: £44,115OTE: £50,000Night Out Allowance: £4,500

Key Responsibilities

Safely load, transport, install, and recover equipment and hire fleetInspect, maintain and clean vehicles, trailers, cranes, and all equipmentCarry out daily risk assessments and checks before operationsCoordinate with customers, Stock Controller, and Logistics on schedules, site plans, and requirementsProvide customer familiarisation of equipment as neededConfirm daily panel movements and process all dispatches/collections through M42 systemIdentify, count and record damaged or missing items; ensure no excess materials remain on siteComplete daily driver checks and report all vehicle incidents, accidents, or damagePerform daily and weekly stock checks of vehicles, tools, panels, and accessoriesLog deliveries, recoveries and site checks on tickets signed by the customerDrive using driver cards as per DVSA regulationsMaintain and submit all legal and company paperwork accurately and on time

What We’re Looking For

HGV C+E (Class 1) or HGV C (Class 2) - EssentialExperience in similar roleComfortable with the physical installation phase of the role (training provided)Current valid CPC Training CardExperience of using a lorry loaded crane (Hiab etc.)Working away Monday-Friday, a flexible approach to working hours - EssentialTrustworthy, physically capable individuals comfortable of managing off-site operationsBeing an integral part of a two-person team, comfortable sharing the cab night and dayWillingness to deliver a high level of customer serviceDisplays a ‘can do’ attitude, solving problems that are encounteredMust live within a commutable distance from the Lesmahagow depot
