Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our Fleet Services team at Eastcroft Depot, Nottingham. You will service, repair and inspect a broad range of vehicles including HGVs, light commercials and municipal vehicles, with a focus on safety and reliability.

The role is on-site with some hybrid working possibilities and offers a generous pension, 26 days leave plus bank holidays and a competitive overtime rate.

Qualifications

Must hold Level 3 City & Guilds in Heavy Motor Vehicle Engineering.
Must have a full UK driving licence with Category C entitlement.
DVSA inspection and testing qualification is required.
IMI Level 3 in Electric/Hybrid vehicles or willingness to train.

Responsibilities

Service and repair HGVs and other Council vehicles
Diagnose and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults
Prepare vehicles for MOT and safety checks
Carry out welding, fabrication, and body repairs
Respond to breakdowns and accident-damaged vehicles
Maintain accurate records and high workshop standards
