Job summary

The Staffing Network Ltd are recruiting for an HGV Grab driver to operate a grab lorry for the collection, transport and delivery of aggregates, waste, soil and construction materials. You will ensure work is completed safely and in line with company policies and road transport regulations.

Ideal candidates hold a valid HGV Class 2 or Class 1 licence, a Driver CPC, and a Digital Tachograph Card. Experience with grab equipment and knowledge of FORS/UK regulations are assets.

Qualifications

• Valid HGV Class 2 licence (Category C) or Class 1 (Category C+E).
• Valid Driver CPC qualification.
• Digital Tachograph Card required.
• Experience operating a grab lorry essential.
• Strong knowledge of UK road transport regulations and safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate an HGV grab lorry safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload materials using hydraulic grab.
• Deliver aggregates, topsoil, sand, gravel and similar materials.
• Collect waste, muck-away and recyclables as required.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections and report defects.
• Ensure loads are secure and compliant with regulations.
• Complete delivery notes and vehicle check sheets.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and general condition.
• Comply with DVSA regulations and Working Time Directive.
• Provide excellent customer service and liaise with transport office.
• Assist with yard or operational duties when needed.
• Maintain safe working practices at all times.

The Staffing Network are recruiting for a HGV Grab driver for our client based on Great Dunmow. The primary responsibilities of our HGV Grab Driver to safely operate a grab lorry for the collection, transportation, and delivery of aggregates, waste, soil, and construction materials. The successful candidate will ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and road transport regulations.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate an HGV grab lorry safely and efficiently.
• Use the hydraulic grab arm to load and unload materials at customer sites.
• Deliver aggregates, topsoil, sand, gravel, and other construction materials.
• Collect waste, muck-away, and recyclable materials when required.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety inspections and report any defects.
• Ensure loads are secure and transported in accordance with legal requirements.
• Complete delivery notes, vehicle check sheets, and other required documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness and general condition of the vehicle.
• Comply with all DVSA regulations, Working Time Directive, and Driver CPC requirements.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Provide excellent customer service and represent the company professionally.
• Communicate effectively with the transport office regarding schedules, delays, or issues.
• Assist with general yard or operational duties when required.
• Maintain safe working practices whilst undertaking your duties at all times

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) or Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification.
• Digital Tachograph Card.
• Previous experience operating a grab lorry.
• Competent in using hydraulic grab equipment.
• Good knowledge of UK road transport regulations.
• Strong understanding of health and safety practices.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily workloads.
• HIAB/Grab Loader certification (if required by the employer).
• Experience within the construction, waste, or aggregates industry.
• Knowledge of FORS requirements (where applicable).
