Job summary

JDR Recruitment is assisting a UK-wide manufacturing and distribution business in recruiting an experienced HGV Fleet Transport Compliance Lead for an on-site regional distribution site. You will work under the Operations Manager and with an external Transport Compliance Officer to oversee day-to-day compliance and driver management.

The role focuses on practical HGV transport compliance, tachograph analysis, drivers' hours and vehicle maintenance compliance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in HGV fleet compliance.
• Practical experience using tachograph analysis software such as TACO.
• Good knowledge of drivers' hours regulations and working time requirements.
• Strong understanding of HGV vehicle compliance, including roadworthiness, MOTs, inspections and defect management.
• Experience maintaining driver compliance records and driving licence checks.
• Excellent organisational, administration and data-entry skills.
• Good written and verbal communication and ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor HGV fleet compliance across vehicles and drivers.
• Manage digital tachograph data downloads and analyses.
• Track drivers' hours and infringements; coordinate follow-up actions.
• Maintain driver compliance records and licence checks.
• Schedule MOTs, inspections, servicing and maintenance on time.
• Coordinate with garages for repairs and inspections.
• Maintain vehicle compliance records including insurance and inspections.
• Support audits with external Transport Compliance Officer.
• Plan daily driver workloads and arrange cover when needed.
• Communicate with drivers about deliveries and vehicle issues.
• Process delivery paperwork and update systems; support invoicing.
• Collaborate with Operations Manager, Logistics and Customer Services to resolve issues.
