Job summary

DFDS UK & Ireland is seeking an HGV Driver / Yard Operative to join our Inverness transport and logistics operation. The role combines local collections and deliveries with yard and warehouse responsibilities, offering varied, practical work.

Ideal candidates will hold a Category C/C+E licence, CPC card, a valid Tachograph card, and a forklift licence, with prior transport/logistics experience and good teamwork. Full-time with employee wellbeing and travel perks provided.

Qualifications

• Current Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
• Previous experience in transport, yard, warehouse or logistics operations.
• Understanding of trailer movements and load securing.
• Knowledge of vehicle compliance and safe working practices.
• Understanding tachograph regulations and drivers’ hours legislation.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

This position would suit an experienced driver who enjoys varied practical work, combining local collections and deliveries with yard and warehouse responsibilities.

The Role

• Complete local collections and deliveries safely and on time.
• Shunt, position and park trailers around the depot.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and inspections.

What We Are Looking For

• Valid Category C or C+E HGV driving licence.
• Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Current Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
• Previous experience in transport, yard, warehouse or logistics operations.
• Understanding of trailer movements and load securing.
• Knowledge of vehicle compliance and safe working practices.
• Understanding of tachograph regulations and drivers’ hours legislation.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Willingness to undertake physical work and support warehouse operations.
• Ability to work outdoors and manage varied practical duties.
• A Tug Licence would be advantageous but is not essential.
