Job summary

DFDS UK & Ireland is seeking an HGV Driver / Yard Operative to join our Inverness transport and logistics operation. The role combines local collections and deliveries with yard and warehouse responsibilities, offering varied, practical work.

Ideal candidates will hold a Category C/C+E licence, CPC card, a valid Tachograph card, and a forklift licence, with prior transport/logistics experience and good teamwork. Full-time with employee wellbeing and travel perks provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Category C or C+E HGV driving licence.
• Current Driver CPC.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• Current Counterbalance Forklift Licence.
• Previous experience in transport, yard, warehouse or logistics operations.
• Understanding of trailer movements and load securing.
• Knowledge of vehicle compliance and safe working practices.
• Understanding tachograph regulations and drivers’ hours legislation.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Complete local collections and deliveries safely and on time.
• Shunt, position and park trailers around the depot.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and inspections.
• Maintain vehicle and trailer cleanliness, including jet washing.
• Load and unload trailers, flatbeds and containers using a counterbalance forklift.
• Secure loads correctly and prepare vehicles for transport.
• Support warehouse operations and stock movements.
• Assist with inventory checks and general warehouse duties.
• Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and operational records.
• Keep the yard and warehouse clean, organised and safe.
• Follow transport regulations and workplace safety procedures.
