Job summary

Oadby and Wigston Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic HGV Driver/Loader to join the Waste Services team. The role is based at the Council’s Depot, working with colleagues to deliver a great service to residents and support recycling initiatives.

The post requires an HGV driving licence and experience with a Council HGV for refuse and recycling rounds, with a positive, team-oriented approach. Competitive salary and generous benefits, including the local government pension scheme, are

Responsibilities

• Operate refuse, recycling and garden waste collection rounds as part of the Waste Services team.
• Assist residents with waste disposal and promote recycling.
• Work from the Council depot and collaborate with colleagues to deliver a high-quality service.
• Follow health and safety and Council procedures at all times.

The HGV Driver/Loader will work on different types of collection rounds, including refuse, recycling and garden waste collections, amongst adhoc collections of other waste streams, whilst encouraging recycling and offering support to residents on matters relating to their waste disposal.
