Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking an HGV Driver based at the Thatcham office in Berkshire. The role requires flexibility to travel nationally, with occasional overnight stays. You will report to the Transport Manager and work on a 40‑hour week with varying day/evening/night shifts.

Overtime and weekend/bank holiday premium rates apply where available. Applicants should be reliable, safety‑conscious and able to work collaboratively with on‑site teams, planners and operatives across sites

Qualifications

• HGV driving experience required.
• Strong health and safety knowledge.
• Professional, team‑focused on-site approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular checks on lorries and trailers, report defects promptly.
• Ensure all journeys are safe, legal and compliant with regulations.
• Plan journeys to meet STGO Category 2 movement orders for proper shift start times.
• Liaise with Planer Foreman and Operatives for effective on-site teamwork.
• Transport planed materials from site to designated tipping locations.
• Record loads and tip details on transfer tickets and return to the office.
• Adhere to company standards and maintain regular communication with the Transport Manager.
