Job summary

Squire’s Garden Centres in Horsham area is seeking a full-time HGV Class 2 driver to provide professional support to Barnsfold Liss plant nursery in Rudgwick, delivering stock to centres and performing yard duties.

You will work Monday to Friday with some Saturdays in season (March–June). A valid Class 2 HGV licence, Driver CPC and tachograph card are essential, as is the ability to lift heavy loads.

Job description

Your primary responsibility will be to provide professional support to the Barnsfold Liss plant nursery in Rudgwick

Working closely with the Nursery Manager to help the Nursery to succeed, you will need a Class 2 driving license, previous experience is essential.

Role: Full time, Monday to Friday

In Season - March to June you will be required to work some Saturdays

Main duties and responsibilities:

• To drive our HGV class 2 vehicles to deliver stock to centres.
• To drive company vehicles in a timely, safe and legal manner, ensuring compliance with all relevant road transport regulations.
• You will complete 4 to 12 drops a day
• Treat the company’s vehicle with care and keep it tidy and clean.
• Develop knowledge of the products sold, keeping calm when working under pressure.
• Handle complaints with care.
• Be aware of the relevant goals of the business plan and the part you have to play
• Work closely and supportively with manager and supervisors, undertaking some yard duties such as operating a fork lift or pallet truck, as well as nursery activities including potting
• Work with colleagues in a respectful and flexible manner.

• Retirement–After 15 years service if you are retiring and have over 15 years service, your contracted hours will be reduced by a fifth but your pay will remain the same for your final 3 months.
