Job summary

Opus People Solutions is recruiting for 7 HGV Class 2 Drivers to join Coventry City Council's Environmental Services team on an ongoing temporary basis at Whitley Depot. You will operate Class 2 vehicles and perform routine checks.

Applicants must hold a valid HGV Class 2Licence and Driver CPC, with up to six penalty points, and a safe, professional driving record. Immediate starts after assessment and interview are available.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV Licence is required.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification is required.
• No more than six penalty points on licence.
• Good professional driving record and safe driving practices.
• Ability to work safely, meet deadlines and stay calm under pressure.
• Understanding of road transport legislation and health and safety requirements.
• PPE provided by Coventry City Council; workers must provide safety boots.
• Right to work in the UK and references may be checked.

Responsibilities

• Operate HGV Class 2 vehicles safely and effectively across Coventry and surrounding areas.
• Carry out vehicle checks, inspections and defect reporting.
• Ensure compliance with driver hours regulations and health and safety standards.
• Work closely with supervisors and operational teams to complete daily tasks.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards when interacting with residents and stakeholders.
• Support waste collection, recycling, highway maintenance and other environmental services operations.

HGV Class 2 Driver

Location: Coventry, CV3 4AR

Pay: £14.82 per hour PAYE / £20.19 per hour UMB

Contract: Temporary Ongoing Contract

Working hours: 37 hours per week, Additional 45 minutes overtime per day for vehicle checks, Monday or Tuesday through to Friday, depending on rota, 4 or 5 working days per week, Multiple shift patterns available, Earliest start times can be 6:00am or 7:00am, depending on weather conditions
